Glasgow Gets It Right Everytime :)

Hello! Haven't had an update in awhile because I've been in Glasgow for the last couple of weeks, but that doesn't mean I've stopped doing fun things! It's pretty relaxing being done traveling for awhile but there really is so much to do in Glasgow it's never boring.1. I've started running! The weather has been really sunny and nice the last couple of days and we have really pretty parks near to where I live to run in, so it's been great so far! 2. Mollys friend came to visit this weekend so we did Glasgow touristy things like the Kalvingrove museum which I hadn't been to and walked around my university to see some pretty sights, we then had a wine, cheese pasta dinner before seeing Janelle Monae in concert. If you dont know her, she's such a great performer and a real artist. Her concert was one of the best I've been to, I'm still on a happiness high! I plan on taking another day trip to Edinburgh this week, there's so much to see there and it's such a beautiful city I love going there. I've also already been here TWO MONTHS! I only have three months left which is so weird to think about, I really don't want to leave, espeically after weekends like this. I'm in Glasgow until March 26 when I will start my 15 day spring break to Paris, Barcelona and Rome! I am beyond excited for this since it's pretty much my dream spring break! Overall, I'm happier than ever and plan to continue making the most of my semester over here everyday :)

London!

This weekend was really exciting because my friend Valerie and I got to visit London for the weekend! We stayed with my roommate from Stout, Brittany, who is studying at University of Westminster this semester. Valerie and I took the overnight bus 8 hours to London and arrived early in the morning where Brittany picked us up. Brittany had class until 4:00 so Valerie and I explored the city a little bit and looked at touristy stuff like Trafalgers square, The National gallery, Big Ben and all around that area. We met up with Brittany later and she had just found out her favorite band was playing at a record shop in London, so we ended up seeing a free concert by The Drive By Truckers! After the concert, we met up with some of Brittanys friends and went out to some bars and clubs in Shortage, it was a great time!

Saturday we had a late start, but ended up spending a lot of time at the Camden markets. Yes, Glasgow has markets, but nothing like the Camden markets. They had food stands of every country, every dessert, cheap clothing and merchandise...basically the best thing ever. The town also had a really cool bohemian feel which was a little different than the rest of London which was very cool. After we were done eating two times our weight in food and running out our bank accounts, we went back and got ready to explore Camden night life with some of Brittanys friends. Once again, we had a great night!

Sunday we got up to eat at this restaurant called The Breakfast Club which serves the best breakfast food I've ever tasted. I had the best apple and cinnamon french toast I could ask for. After that we explored more of London and went to the tate modern museum which is one of the best I'ver been to. Hopefully I get a chance to come back to London because I would love to go there again. Once we were done with that, had a little down time to watch a movie and then Valerie and I had to catch our overnight bus. It was so fun seeing Brittany and the life she has made over in London, and hopefully I will get to go there soon!

Oh My Amsterdam

Hello! This weekend my friends Molly, Nikki, Danelle and I took an adventure to Amsterdam and it really surprised me in so many ways. We left Friday morning and arrived mid afternoon and when we arrived one of the first things I noticed was the use of bikes. There is the main walking road and then a bike path all around the city that is used by many people. If you don't watch out, you could end up getting hit by one of them...not that happend to me or anything :) Upon arrival we of course treated ourselves immediatly to a belgian waffle with chocolate (not our last) We then met up with some of Nikkis friends from Australia and had dinner at a nice sit down resturant and were off to explore the red light district. It really shocked me the fine line between a city that has so much to offer in the way of architecture, the beautiful canals, the thriving tourist venue it takes in and the history behind it and then the darker side of the red light district. I've literally never seen anything like it, but it was interesting to see literally two different sides to a city

On Saturday we ate breakfast at our hotel and were off to the Anne Frank museum which was really cool in the way the actual musuem was shaped like her house so you got to see the actual bookcase her family his behind and the layouts of the rooms as you climbed the stairs. One of my favorite parts of the trip for sure. We then spent most of the afternoon touring around the city. Danelle and I bought a loaf of olive bread and some dutch and gouda cheese from a local outside market and it was probably the best lunch I've had in along time, loved the cheese there! At night we explored some of the bars and pubs around the area which was also a lot of fun!

Sunday was a relaxing day since not a lot of shops were open so we started out the day in the Van Gough museum which is great for Van Gough fans! We took a walk through Vondel Park which was beautiful! After tea and many more belgian waffles we ended our trip with an amazing italian meal (seems to be a theme) in the middle of the city. Overall Amsterdam was very cool and I really got a feel how a lot of city functions and learned a lot about its history. I would not turn down an opportunity to go again :)
